Why is it crucial for children to exercise?

There are so many amazing benifits to getting your children involved in health and fitness. The obvious things are reduced weight, increased energy and as well as overall health. But what we are learning more and more is that exercise and activity is actually benificial to the brain and a childs ability to use it. Studies have shown that exercise has a positive effect on the brain by activating it at a higher level post exercise. For this reason, it is so important that parents encourage and really push their children to get outside and move on a regular basis.

Below are just a few more reasons that we need to continue to focus on getting kids moving!

Social. Not only is sport and exercise great for health, it is also a great way to encourage your children to socialise. Being part of a sports team or group will open children up to a wider friendship circle and foster a greater sense of 'being part of something' which we all know is a positive thing to encourage.

Improve Sleep. Exercise has an amazing way of regulating so many of the bodies processes. One of these is sleep, and for children this is such an important element of their growth and development, so its something to be encouraged.

Energy Levels. Children who are active in sport and fitness tend to show greater levels of energy throughout the day. Exercise especially in the mornig has been shown to give children (and adults) a boost in energy levels, which can be seen throughout the day.

Self Esteem. Kids who are fit, healthy and active generally report higher levels of self esteem. This is in part due to skill mastery, improved physical functioning & often higher levels of inclusion within team & groups as stated above.

So as you can see, getting your kids into sport, fitness or exercise of any sort has nothing but positive effects on everything in their lives!

See you outside.
