For all of us who got the chance to see Richmond take out this year's AFL Grand Final, it was a sporting spectacle for the ages. The Tigers hadn't seen premiership glory in 37 years and for many fans, an entire lifetime. The win topped off an incredible season for the Tiger who beat out Geelong & GWS in the lead-up finals.
The reason this was such a great sporting story for the club and the fans, was that it showed the true value of persistence. For years the fans and the club have witnessed the ups and (mainly) downs of the football club as they battled season to season without a premiership. The true loyalty was from the fans, who have continued year on year to support the club and its players. This year their loyalty was rewarded as they took the cup and got the chance to experience the true adulation winning the Grand Final.
For all the juniors out there, this is such a great example of true persistence and that hard work really does pay off (after 37 years!). Work ethic, teamwork, and sheer resilience have now seen Richmond become a top tier club and the 2017 premieres. Well done to the entire club and staff and we wish you all the best in your celebrations!
